Poker and Sharks

Tuesday, April 4th, 2006

I’m off to Capitol Hill this morning to speak on a panel about the Internet gambling bills.

The cool thing is, my co-panelists are poker all-stars Howard Lederer, Greg Raymer, and Chris “Jesus” Ferguson. My job rocks.

In the meantime, to keep you occupied, here’s a video of an octopus fighting a shark. Just for the hell of it.

UPDATE: That was a lot of fun. Lots of A-list media there, though as you might guess, your humble Agitator wasn’t the draw. I was impressed with how articulate all three players were. Ferguson’s a rock star. The long hair, the cowboy hat. Oh, and the guy’s got a background in game theory. And a Ph.D. Lederer was also impressive — articulate, media-savvy, and he has a good grasp on how public policy works.

The Poker Player’s Alliance also released a scientific poll today taken over the weekend, finding that 3/4 of Americans are opposed to a prohibition on online gambling.

No wonder Goodlatte and the gang are trying to hide their bills behind the guise of lobbying reform.
