Gambling Raid Nets Congressman

Police in Frackville, PA raided an Elks Club to bust up a Super Bowl pool. Among the contributors, U.S. Rep. Timothy Holden.

Meanwhile, the Pennsylvania Lottery took in $2.6 billion in sales last fiscal year.

You know, when men of Italian heritage send goons to break up competitors to the family industry, we call it a mafia protection racket. What do we call it when it’s the government sending the armed protection squads?

Rep. Holden, incidentally, voted “yes” on legislation that would ban U.S. citizens from placing online wagers with a credit card.
