Meet the New Boss…

Thursday, February 2nd, 2006

Ah, reform.

The new Republican Majority Leader once passed out checks from lobbyists to colleagues on the House floor. He’s among the top ten members of Congress in taking Jack Abramoff money, and he has refused to give any of it back. He tucked anti-competitive legislation regarding student loans into an unrelated appropriations bill, which passed in the wee hours of the morning, a move that I’m sure is completely unrelated to the fact that he has taken hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from the student loan industry.

Also, I’m pretty sure he visits a tanning bed.

Roy Blunt, who’s really no better than Boehner, finished second, and will serve as whip.

John Shadegg, who’d probably have injected the leadership with at least a bit of principle, came in last.

DeLay, Rostenkowski, Foley, Boehner.

Business. As. Usual.
