You Damn, Dirty Wal-Mart Haters
Friday, January 6th, 2006Stupid trick of the week from the Wal-Mart haters: Apparently, the story deserves criticism because the automated movie suggestion system on its website suggested Planet of the Apes to customers who purchased movies about blacks and the civil rights movement. From this, we’re supposed to draw conclusions about inherent racism in Wal-Mart culture.
Jesus. Grow up. One, the system was automated. Two, the suggestion is perfectly reasonable. Planet of the Apes is an allegorical movie that condemns oppression and racism. Have any of these people actually seen it? It’s not at all difficult to see why someone interested in civil rights would have bought the film.
That these idiots autmoatically drew racist inferences after seeing “apes” linked with “black people” says more about the idiots making the inferences than it says about Wal-Mart.
