Reader Brock Sides notes that given the wording of that “permisssion to procreate” law pending in Indiana…

“Republican lawmakers are drafting new legislation that will make marriage a requirement for motherhood in the state of Indiana, including specific criminal penalties for unmarried women who do become pregnant “by means other than sexual intercourse.”

…the Virgin Mary might want to start looking for a good lawyer. Even God himself isn’t exempt from GOP efforts to legislate morality!

UPDATE: The state rep in question has now revoked the law.
