There seems to be a hunger for it. Over the last three days, I’ve gotten about ten emails like this one:

After watching the evening news, a friend of mine was so upset over the stories and images of hurricane victims, that he went searching on Yahoo for something uplifting and found your article.

I myself have watched too much of the news (vowing today to stop) and it has only served to bring me down. I can’t thank you enough for presenting the TRUE picture of conditions on Planet Earth. Instead of watching the news I will print out your article and read it often. Thanks, I DID “take heart.”

This is the column she’s talking about. I think it’s interesting — and a little heartbreaking — that people are desperately combing the search engines for any kind of good news to cheer them up.
