Some potentially blockbuster claims against Speaker Hastert are tucked away in a Vanity Fair story on a Turkish crime syndicate.

As Pete Guither notes, given that Hastert has in the past suggested George Soros does business with drug cartels, the mention of his name on FBI wiretap tapes of the Turkish crime bosses presents an interesting twist.

The story isn’t getting much traction at the moment, though it is notable that the White House has gone to extraordinary lengths to keep it all under wraps.
