I see via Matt Welch that the LA Times reporter and cultural critic has passed away. Welch gives Shaw his due, good and bad.

My Shaw recommendation: His 1996 book The Pleasure Police, a stellar indictment of the dual threat to personal freedom posed by the moral right and the healthist left.
