I’m Running Out of Smart-Ass Headlines

DEA agents seized nearly $50,000 in cash from a woman at Boston’s Logan Airport. Why? Apparently because merely carrying $50,000 in cash is enough for federal drug agents to take it away from you on suspicion of drug activity. She’ll now have to sue to get it back, even if she’s never charged.

She has no criminal record. That really doesn’t matter, though. Even if she were involved in the drug trade, this isn’t how societies that value liberty operate. The presumption of innocence is dead, too.

    The EU to Introduce Exchange Controls?

    Village Hampden has a post about the upcoming restrictions on cash movements across the EU�s border. Strange Stuff wonders whether I or someone like myself has a view on this. Slightly odd question really as there aren�t that many things
