USA Today condemns the decision.
The San Francisco Chronicle endorses Hinchey-Rohrabacher. Note that the vote on this amendment will likely happen next week. If you have plans to do something about it, do it soon. Advocates think they’re at 160 votes at the moment. They need 218.
The Wall Street Journal is critical, too.
Post-Raich, the DEA is saying it won’t (and hasn’t) prosecute medical cases, and California Attorney General Bill Lockyer’s has soothingly asserted that sick people “have nothing to worry about.” This list, suggests otherwise. And I’m sure it’s far from comprehensive.
The Indianapolis Star has an online poll on whether the state should pass its own medical marijuana bill. Go stuff the box.
The Rhode Island Senate passed a medical marijuana bill 34-2 the day after Raich came down.
At NRO, William F. Buckley pens an eloquent (if frustratingly middling) response. At the same site, Jonathan Adler nails it.
The issue does finally pop up at Kos. He doesn’t exactly toe the Yglesias hardline, but he’s not especially critical of the decision either. He seems more interested in bashing Scalia (rightly so — but what about keeping you own house in order?). It’s the comments section that’s fascinating. Kos’s readers seem to be growing a begrudging respect — perhaps even slight admiration — for Thomas. The comments here and here are especially good reading.
Amazing how actually getting sick can change the way a lawmaker approaches our treatment of sick people.
Be sure to read Matt Welch, who earns my envy by penning The Take on this issue.

Raich Followup
Balko has linkage…and more. Let’s all work together to shove the Raich decision and the whole drug war debacle down the throats of the federal, state, and local drug terrorists……
