Where’s the Outrage?
Wednesday, May 4th, 2005So I’m looking up and down the Media Research Center and Parents Television Council websites, and I can’t seem to find a single condemnation of Laura Bush’s speech at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner the other night — the one where she joked about masturbating a horse, tucking dollars at a male strip club, and the frustrations of being an unfulfilled housewife.
Don’t get me wrong, I thought the speech was charming, and very funny. But it was on C-SPAN, and has been rerun several times since Saturday night. Anybody doubt that if Theresa Heinz-Kerry or Elizabeth Edwards had given the same speech, Brent Bozell and company would’ve been all over it, venting about how the elites have lost touch with red-state America, how such filth shouldn’t be broadcast on basic cable, much less C-SPAN, and on, and on, and on?
