Email Oops
Thursday, April 14th, 2005A couple of weeks ago, I received an invitation from a “socially progressive” student group at a grad school in the area. They wanted me to speak on a panel about corporate social responsibility. It sounded to me like they wanted a patsy kick around, so I politely declined. I’m happy to play patsy on a topic I’m more familiar with, but corporate governance isn’t my bag. The guy then called me up yesterday, and begged me to come on the panel, insisting that they were only interested in an honest debate. I said I’d think it over and get back to him.
Late last night, the guy apparently hit “reply” instead of “forward” when attempting to pass our latest correspondence on to his group’s executive committee. Cut-and-paste:
Hey guys. Balko finally wrote back. He basically declined in the email below but that didn’t stop me from calling him. I explained that the panel wasn’t really focused on governance and he said he’d reconsider. He’ll get back to me tomorrow. Maybe we should send our goons to harass his kids.
Whoops. Good luck finding someone.
