Sucking in the Seventies . . . and Beyond

I agree that there’s something to the Generation Jones business. By traditional demography I’m a baby-boomer, but the formative experiences of boomers proper are not mine. My own term for folks in my cohort was always “cusper,” coming between the baby boom and Gen X, partaking of some of the culture of each but belonging to neither. I would have drawn the boundaries of “cusperdom” more narrowly – say, 1957-1964. All cuspers would then have been born too late for the males to have hit draft age during the Vietnam War, and most would have entered the job market before the stock market crash of 1987. But I have no reason to quibble with Pentells’ slightly wider cohort. I ain’t copping to getting President Bush reelected, though.
