If this team makes a run this year, particularly over the next 22 games, it could become a big story. Meaning that for all the talk of “the darkest day in basketball,” the brawl could ultimately prove to be a plus for the NBA.

On a related note, I like Hubie Brown a lot. Classy guy. It’ll be a shame to see him go. I thought at first that his retirement would be good for us, as we’d get him back doing color on TV. But to hear the way the sports world is treating his retirement, he must be really sick. Some of the tributes I’ve heard sound more like obituaries. And Jerry West nearly broke down several times in the press conference. Here’s hoping Hubie gets over whatever it is that’s slowing him down.
