Drive-By Indiana
Sunday, November 21st, 2004As promised, a few picks from my trip home to Indiana last month.
More coming, but today’s theme is, “scens from the car.”

This is Indiana corn.

Some fall Hoosier foliage.

A lonely barn I thought was worth a pic.

That’s me in the mirror.

This is my dog, who enjoys car trips like an afternoon with the proctologist.

I love diners. Particularly old-school 1950s-era diners that haven’t changed much (if you like diner nostalgia too, check out this book). Here’s one in rural, western Pennsyvania we stopped at on the way.

Inside the Summit Diner. The apple tart was delicious.

Staple of every diner — the bar. Must haves — single servings of cereal. Multiple varieties of pie on a covered stand. Random guy smoking a cigarette. And a waitress who comes by with the coffee and says things like, “Can I warm you up, hon?”

More fall scenery.
I’ll have another round of pics soon.
