I saw this last week. A great post, and an amazing building.
There’s not really a whole lot out there about it, which makes it even creepier and more amazing.
I don’t mean to sound too paranoid, but wouldn’t it be an Orwellian masterpiece to use a gigantic windowless building in the middle of a city to keep political prisoners? I mean, clearly everyone there thinks that it’s unfinished or pretends it doesn’t exist. It probably is unfinished, but if I were a totalitarian despot with a sense of history, I would definitely finish it quietly and use it to terrorize the populace.
When the regime finally falls, I say that it should be made into the center of a Lord of the Rings theme park.
Stick a big flaming eye on top, and call it Mount Doom.
