PATRIOT Act Pushes Paypal to Go Puritan

Awfully concindental that Paypal’s new policies align neatly with the Bush administration’s crackdowns on drug reimportation, pornography, and gaming.

I thought it rather funny that, while eBay (owner of Paypal) is more than willing to sell adult material on their website , they’re not willing to allow users to use Paypal to “pay” for it. If the problem is making money off these type transactions, since eBay makes money for each listing the same problem should exist (even for the “fraud” portion).
There are other services (BidPay from Western Union). The main difference with those is that while eBay and Paypal are usually “Seller pays” (the fees), the Western Union option is a “Buyer pays” (higher fees). Some of the cheaper sellers on eBay already refuse Paypal for this reason and require other options.
I was wondering why I can’t use paypal to gamble.
