America’s New Number One Killer

Friday, August 6th, 2004

I wrote a bit of satire over at Tech Central, based on that NBER paper about how motality rates go up during an economic boom.

Yes, if it saves just 1 child it will be worth it.

are you looking for a guest spot on HARDBALLS?

Hardballs? I think you are confusing Hardball and Crossballs (new show on Comedy Central). I wouldn’t mind seeing Radley on either. :)

I fear that you are only giving them ideas.

So if it saves one child but kills 50, then what?

What if the one child is not an American child, but the 50 are?

    What about the reverse?

    Think about the children, people!

I’ll also point out that the Keep Bush In Office side-banner ads were particularly amusing right next to Rad’s piece.

    Nice touch.

You’re tempting fate, Radley. Need I refer you to your own words?

Happiness will be the death of us

If Radley Balko is right about killer affluence, I bet Arnold Kling’s happiness police will be on the job any minute now. Personally, however, they can have my wine and cigars when they pry them from my cold dead hands.
