James Broadwater’s Revenge
Friday, July 30th, 2004If you saw last week’s episode of Da Ali G show, you saw the Borat character canvas door to door with Mississippi ring-wing congressional candidate James Broadwater — to friggin’ hillarious effect, I might add.

He forwarded e-mails to the FCC? Make me want to send him a “Go Fuck yourself” e-mail on those grounds alone.
Uh, I need to make shit.
Not only is he a smug jesus-freak dickhead on teevee, he’s one on paper too. That clip, at least, made me laugh my ass off, and that’s more than I can say for your pal, Mr. “Jesus Christ, the Lord of everything and the Savior of the World”. So get over yourself, you twit.
“What has happened instead is that my interview has been used to make Christians look bad and to make me look like a person who hates Jews. But then, what else can you expect from people who are so anti-Christian and anti-God?”
Or maybe, they just have what is commonly referred to as “a sense of humor”, something you seem to have never possessed. Pathetic old man…why is it, every time someone makes fun of some uptight bible-thumper, they have to make it all about being “anti-christian and anti-god”. News flash: you don’t have to be an uptight rightwing bible-thumper to be religious!
“Several people have expressed concern over my statement that Jews will go to Hell. That was direct response to a direct set of questions about who God will let into Heaven. John 3:16-18 clearly states, as do many other Bible passages, that everyone who accepts Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior will spend eternity in Heaven, while everyone who rejects Him will spend eternity in Hell, because he has rejected the Only Begotten Son of God. Maybe I should have refused to answer such a pointed question that was designed to cause conflict, but to say that everyone goes to Heaven would be lying, and it would be heartless, giving people a false hope. Jesus is the Jewish Messiah, and millions of Jews over the past 2,000 years have accepted Him as such. It is my prayer that many more will do the same. And, by the way, I seek to bless the Jews (please see Genesis 12:3), and for some time I have had a logo on my website which says, “I am a proud friend of Israel.” And I always will be.”
Get a load of this character. Hey, you said what you said, and believe what you believe, no matter how many “I Love Israel” bumper stickers you put on your jesusmobile. And the only reason you fundamentalist creeps are “friends” of Israel is because the Jews are supposed to be sacrificial pawns in your little story, and they streets shall run red with their blood. Oh, yes, a friend indeed. Ass.
“The Bible says, “Silence the mocker and strife will cease,” and this stunt pulled by HBO is just one more reason why I believe that the liberal, anti-God media needs to be brought under the strict control of the FCC, and that as soon as possible.”
Suh-suh-say WHAT? What is this evil fascist fuck doing in politics? Oh, so, someone makes fun of you, and you demand that the government forcibly silence them? Holy shit, how is this guy for real? How can someone be that openly against the first amendment? I say again, for effect, HOLY SHIT!
Yes, I too cannot wait for the FCC to silence everyone with whom I disagree, or anyone who disrespects me or my religion.
Wow. Just…wow! BOOYAKASHA!
On his website under “Positions at a Glance” one of the positions is Limited Government. I guess if you get a more detailed description from him he would explain that that only applies to things taken verbatim from the Bible.
I’m going to pretend his press release is a joke and was meant to be as funny as it actually is.
I can’t stand this kind of shit!
If “heaven” is all loaded up with people like this guy, I don’t want anything to do with it. Sign me up for the hellride PLEASE!!!
Interesting. I found myself respecting his position right up until that last paragraph. I see nothing wrong with having views based in the bible, nor with looking down on Ali G (local lad though he is), but the idea that blanket censorship would solve his problems gives an alarming window into his psyche.
Welcome to politics in Mississippi! We’re all for local government when it comes to keeping black boys away from our white girls, and when we want to ignore that inconvenient separation of church and state doctrine. (after all the separation is only necessary if the people in power don’t believe as we do). the moment somebody is doing something we don’t like, we’re all for a strong federal government to take control. Seig Hile! (sic)
Broward will rule like Stalin…If you vote for him he will protect your family, but if you vote against him…he will crush you.

“I am a proud friend of Israel [cause the more of them there are, the more room for those of us not burning in hell for all eternity].”

“The threatening, obscene, and profane ones have been forwarded to the Federal Communications Commission, and official complaints have been lodged.”
“I believe that the liberal, anti-God media needs to be brought under the strict control of the FCC, and that as soon as possible.”
Shall we establish an inquisition as well, Mr. Broadwater?
No one expects the Mississippi Inquisition…
I find it quite interesting that most of the posts here decry this type of religious governing, but fail to see the same “I am the Wrath of God” thinking of George W. Bush. If nothing else, at least Kerry will try to keep the invisible man in the sky out of our government. After that, everything else is up for debate.
I really really hope one Ali G’s victims kicks three shades of dung out of him. And more importantly lets hope they keep the film running…that would be worth watching.
Here’s what I want to know – how can HBO use that footage? Wasn’t it fraudulently obtained? Don’t they need a consent to show it in the United States, or need to inform him that he was being tricked?
Maybe they have a huge release that gives it away, and the guests are stupid enought to just sign it or something, but I am always amazed that HBO can get away with it. I would think that an agreement to appear on a show that you are told is a news program that will be shown in a little CIS Republic is not sufficient to allow use of the same footage on the US on a comedy show that makes fun of people stupid enough to appear.
How does this work?
Oh yeah, Ali G is funny as hell. Borat is my favorite.
Ali G is lame. I’m glad Broadwater forwarded those death threats to the authorities. Everyone knows how insanely hateful leftists are towards Christians, and I hope that these people who are threatening him are caught before his family is attacked or killed.
Funny that you have no clue that someone could be a “leftist” and love Christians, even be a Christian. Of course I’m sure you’ve already excommunicated all the Christians from your particular sect…
The media hates God. I want complete censorshipt of the press. Free press be damned!

Wow, I sent him an e-mail that really was semi-insulting(although in no way threating obscene or profane) and he actually responded, with one sentence:
“It’s(Sic: it being internet communication) sent over telephone lines; therefore, it’s under federal law.”
Evan,
If he actually believes that the Jews are going to hell, then isn’t it preferable that he WOULD say that the Jews are going to hell, instead of lying?
The other problem with everybody’s arguments against this guy is the fact that he is elected. He represents the majority of his constituency, so if he really does he has every right to be where he is. If the majority of this country had the same views as him, he would be deserving of being President, no matter what the minority says about him. The fact that the majority of the country disagrees with him means he is in the proper position of power; not that he should not have a voice.
We live in a republic where the majority is represented. Elected officials are not supposed to be moderates between the majority views and the minority views. That’s the way our country is. Maybe the people who send him death threats should send death threats to all the people who support him as well?

I never said he should lie about it; however, his prissy skirting around the issue, after the fact, just goes to show that he knew that this type of shit wouldn’t fly with voters. That having been said, just because someone stands behind a belief doesn’t mean they should be heralded for having it. I’m sure Hitler stood behind he beliefs quite strongly.
“The other problem with everybody’s arguments against this guy is the fact that he is elected. He represents the majority of his constituency, so if he really does he has every right to be where he is.”
Actually, he wasn’t elected. He lost.

We also live in a country where the minority is supposed to be protected form the tyranny of the majority. If The good Mister Broadwater had his way, we’d all be silenced at the point of a gun. America was supposed to be a constitutional republic, not majority mob rule. Just because 50.1% of the people think that any anti-christian viewpoints should be silenced, doesn’t mean that the people must accept it. Yes, the majority is “represented” in this country, but that doesn’t give the majority the right to force their beliefs on others, using the government as a tool of their oppression. Read this essay for more on the difference between mob rule and the Constitutional Republic.
Regardless, he obviously doesn’t have enough supporters, considering that he lost his election. This is not to say that a fundamentalist christian should not be able to hold office, but simply that he/she should not be able to circumvent the constitution, the very thing that seeks to protect the people from the tyranny of the state/majority.
“The other problem with everybody’s arguments against this guy is the fact that he is elected. He represents the majority of his constituency, so if he really does he has every right to be where he is.”
Not only do he lose, but he only got 8 percent of the vote in the republican primary.
This stupid missip cracker deserves a beat down.
