I take pride in having turned my husband from a kind of Rage Against the Machine-type aspiring journalist into a libertarian economist.

The key to acheiving such a transformation is the person has to intellectually honest. Jamie joined our side not because of my arguments, but because his independent research confirmed them.

Well, here in Britain, finding a libertarian woman -- at least of the explicit political/philosophical variety -- is hard. So I take the view that to hell with that, find a nice, smart, sexy woman and subtly bring her round to the path of enlightenment. I never mention politics on a first date. Ever. Opposites do attract. My lady respects my point of view, takes it seriously and enjoys debating with me. It works.

I draw the line at animal liberation nuts, admirers of Noam Chomsky/Michael Moore(on) and borne-again Christians, though.

*sigh*

As an active member of three online services, I can say with near authority that the Central Texas area needs more libertarian women who register on Austin Chronicle personals, Yahoo! personals, and MySpace.

Time to check e-mail...

Here in the Playboy mansion, the problem is neither quality nor quantity; it's deciding who to pick.

But back home, every libertarian is a balding middle aged man. Or an insane college chick.

I hear ya.

I would describe my political/economic leanings as libertarian/objectivist. And I am an accountant. I a also have dyed hair and am covered with tattoos. All the women I meet at clubs are either apolitical or hardcore lefties. Makes for some good arguments, but it would be nice to date someone with right-leaning tendencies. And I have never been able to connect with people who aren't into non-mainstream music, so meeting them outside of the club scene hasn't worked for me.

Radley, you work at Cato. You talking about libertarian women is like Hugh Heffner talking about blondes. You are too far removed from the rest of us. Cato is the Playboy mansion of libertarian women.
