Conservative columnist Kathleen Parker blames Abu Ghraib on….

….the Farelly Brothers.

I’m not kidding.

“My point: There’s not much difference between what those soldiers enacted in Abu Ghraib for digital cameras and 15 seconds of instafame back home and what America’s increasingly debased culture embraces as good harmless fun….”

Of course if someone did the same to Parker or Limgaugh they’d be screaming bloody murder. Fuckwits.

I blame “Outside Providence”, an atypical Farrelly Brothers movie, for producing in me the moral confusion necessary to allow those atrocities to happen.

Please, don’t anyone act surprised over this.

We’re smack dab in the middle of the era of non-responsibility and blame-shifting. Nothing is actually anyone’s fault…except the big evil corporations. McDonalds. Microsoft. WalMart. Farrelly Bros.

This is the culture that sues fast food joints when we get fat. We sue tobacco companies for having “misleading packaging”, yet it states “this product causes lung cancer” on every pack. This is the culture that blames the NRA, a group supporting responsible gun ownership, for irresponsible gun owners’ actions.

The transferrence of blame/responsibility from ourselves, either to avoid punishment or to cash in, is our new national pasttime. And the fact that anyone is surprised at Parker’s & Limbaugh’s rediculous excuses (it was because of dumb & dumber, or, they were just letting off some steam), is equally rediculous. Taking responsibility for your actions, standing up and accepting blame like a good, honest, honorable human being, has gone the way of the dodo.

I am constantly amazed at the right’s attempt the minimalize rape and sexual abuse.

Now rape is a “Farrely style” frat prank.

    Well done.

“I am constantly amazed at the right’s attempt the minimalize rape and sexual abuse”

Kathleen Parker is not “the right”. Kathleen Parker is Kathleen Parker, and she speaks for herself. Besides, she wasn’t minimalizing rape, she was trying to place the blame for dispicable actions on someone other than the perpetrators themselves.

A foolish concept, yes, but not the same as you point out.

Well at least it was as original as it was idiotic.

So is Abu Ghraib the site of worse atrocities today then it was 5 years ago when Saddam Hussein had control over it?

Where were all these people who are bitching about the atrocities at Abu Ghraib today, 5 years ago when far worse things were happening there?

Am I suppose to believe that these individuals are genuinely concerned about the Fate of Iraqi’s held at Abu Ghraib?

Or do they have some other motivation (unrelated to the suffering Iraqi’s) for raising this issue?
