He didn’t make it, but he’s an American hero for trying.

FINALLY! A reason to go to the Ballpark here in Cincy!! Wait… let’s see, 9 beers at $5.50, 9 hot dogs at $3.50… $81 BUCKS! I don’t think I could afford it!

I think I could do it.

One, the Arizona day was a veritable microwave, with mercury at 91 degrees.

Har. That’s nothing. Come back in July.

I think I could do that, too. Beer at the ST parks in Tucson is quite reasonably priced. Perhaps I can get sponsors.

Sounds like a fat version of a friend of mine back in High School. He swore one day, for reasons I’e never quite understood, that he could eat 25 cold hot dogs in one 35-minute lunch period. This pointless self-challenge was about 3 months after his first big event – eating 100 pretzel rods in 35 minutes (he made it through 70).

As the official promoter, I organized the event, which was quite a draw at lunch that day. He chowed-down on 17 of them until I surprised him by pouring the leftover hotdog juice all over the plate of uneaten dogs like some kind of gelatinous, alien slug trail. Just the sight of it sent him running to the restroom, where he spent the next 30 minutes kneeling in front of a nasty high-school-bathroom toilet.

    Ah, the good old days…

roger – why would you do that?

you sound like the type of person who would kick a marathon runner in the shins halfway through the race.

    Anon -

A marathon runner only halfway through the race is still too fast. I’d have to wait until the finish line to kick him, since I’m only good for 100 meters.

C’mon where’s your sense of humor? It’s not like the whole 25 hot dogs in 35 minutes stunt was MY idea… Allow me to summarize my last post for you in a more sensitive manner:

I once knew a guy that at 17 cold hotdogs in 20 minutes.

“One, the Arizona day was a veritable microwave, with mercury at 91 degrees.”
It was 96 this past Sunday in Phoenix …. try coming back in July when it’s 115 ….

That story gave me a lump in my throat, the kind I have not had since seeing the “Rudy/Bang The Drum Slowly/Hoosiers” marathon…
