They can’t be reviewing them. Think of the work involved. It’s most likely just a way for people to make their own, customized signs. Why would the campaign want to print up their own “East Side Kansas City YMCA Water Babies for Bush”?

It’s so people can print out their own custom posters (probably with the office printers) and post them all over the place.
At zero cost to the campaign.
The theory, of course, assumes that cynical gag posters don’t outweigh the promotional value of earnest posters.
What I think is funny is that, apparently, the Wonkette-spurred traffic was causing the system to burp and show people other peoples’ posters. So earnest Republicans were probably getting anti-Bush messages.
Looks like they already pulled the comment feature off - fun while it lasted, I suppose.

Actually, it probably was pretty cheap. As a freelance web programmer myself (admittedly, one who has worked a lot with image manipulation), I could produce an identical tool within a few hours. My charge would be around $500 or less - probably less, in the current economic climate.
If I were a campaign supporter, I’d do it for free. Except I’d have the brains not to do it, because really, who *wouldn’t* be able to figure out what people would do with it?
