Back when I lived in Minneapolis, we had no dog parks. Everyone illegally took their dogs to the Mississippi river bottoms and let them run off leash. Us owners never knew each other by name, only by our dog's name (i.e. that's Cassius' mommy or Daisy's daddy). It was a complete underground society with lookouts and furtive glances (no secret handshakes...unless you count the dogs "handshake"). It was a great time until the City Park Nazis started enforcing. I've heard that the river bottoms is now designated an "official" dog park now.
