I Feel Safer Already
Monday, February 23rd, 2004The Bush administration will soon release Guantanamo detainee Slimane Hadj Abderrahmane from custody. Abderrahmane will be free. No restrictions. This despite the fact that Pentagon officials familiar with his case are alarmed at the release, and still consider him to be a significant terrorist threat to the United States.
So why is he being released? Because he’s a Danish citizen. And Denmark gave 500 troops and $350 million to the Iraq war effort.

Maybe the US govt is going to follow him to the ‘honey’ once he is out?
You can be such a conspiracy theorist sometimes.
Of course, it is entirely possible that they released him for the exact reason you stated. Who knows?
It has nothing to do with conspiracy theory. It’s a simple matter of You scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours.
He goes well with coffee.
Also, how can I get my hands on citizenship in lots of foreign countries? It seems like that’s a great way to klep out of obeying the law these days.
I think this is part of the plan to balance the budget. If enough little countries put up a few hundred million and a some troops, we can get out of Iraq, balance the budget, then start some other new war!
Unless, of course, we all die from the wars predicted by this:

Think of it as a game where we sit on the sidelines and allow (them)whom ever they are, to score at will as we don’t even take the field.
Now it’s the two minute warning and they have more than a hundred points and we have just decided to play and inform Whom ever, that we are going to take the field and what’s more we fully intend to beat them.
History will class us as the most famous or infamous chumps in history.
We sold the Japanese all the scrap iron we could only to get a large part of it back.
Harry Truman et.al. was begged by Uncle Ho to help him in his turmoil with our staunch allies the French, but we couldn’t think of helping Ho, he was a dirty communist.
We ask Joe Stalin to help us win over the Japanese, so he does help during the last three days of the war and we make him a full partner in the following negotiations.
My God! With leaders like those how can we expect to go wrong.
Chris, ‘fire and brimstone’ stories are a dime-a-dozen in UK papers. It is a national pastime. Some people even believe them, some don’t (it’s kind of like pro-wrestling).
The pentagon ‘source’ has some other motives here. Perhaps a ‘War on Climate’ will be the next Don Quichotean, taxpayer funded piece of stupidity. Who knows?
Come on, now. Everyone knows that there are no Danish terrorists.
The terrorists are all Iraqis.
Here’s the plan: Put a LoJack up his ass and track him. When he starts visiting bars and the Red Light district that’s when we’ll know that he is a threat and about to blow his ass up.
i love the “according to the newspaper” disclaimer at the end of the piece – only a trial would show if this guy was a threat. Why haven’t these terrrrrists been on trial?
I thought libertarians would be against Guantanamo
