Wednesday, February 4th, 20041) Boston mayor says post Super Bowl rioting is the result of liberalized Sunday liquor laws.
2) The lifestyle Nazis at CSPI want to ban the phrase “net carbs” from food labels. The argument from CSPI is that “a carb is a carb is a carb,” and it’s misleading to distinguish them.
Hidden agenda: This is a direct attack on the Atkins diet, which CSPI finds abominable. The only people to whom the “net carb” labeling is useful are Atkins dieters. The number reflects the total carbs in the foodstuff, minus those carbs that have no effect on insulin levels — mainly sugar alcohols and fiber.
If anything, “net carbs” are a more specific form of labeling — total carbs are still listed. You’d think that CSPI, an alleged consumer advocacy group, wouldn’t have much problem with labels that give consumers more information, and that give certain consumers the exact information they’re looking for — namely, how a given item might affect blood sugar levels.
But not when more information might advance the agenda of that devil Atkins.

Are you still on the Atkins and if so, how are you doing?
The FDA is warped. So is the FCC, and the ah crap, they’re all warped. Stupid fed.
One would think that the American Diabetes Association would want the ‘net carbs’ information to stay on consumer food packaging as well…
And regarding the first observation, perhaps the post-Superbowl rioting had more to do with Boston fans being vicious punks, with or without a BAC reading.
Mayor Thomas M. Menino is a remarkable moron.
Yeah, I guess the reason there was no post-Sugar Bowl rioting is those strict alcohol laws in New Orleans.
One might think that, unless one knew that CSPI was, basically, The Devil.
And I say this as someone with no horse in the Atkins race, so to speak.
The disrespect for others property is a direct result of the property owners inability to carry a weapon in Boston.
Well its a good thing the omnipresent police protect us and our property… oh wait, no they don’t and no they didn’t.
Since people in Boston celebrate the Patriot’s victory as “the death of the individual”, it only makes sense that they have no regard for property. If one does not believe in individual property rights, why would he be expected to respect them?
Simple solution:
Remove the net carbs from the nutrition facts labels on beer bottles and cans. Also put an additional warning stating that consumption may incite riotous behavior OR just put the catch phrase “Riot Responsibly” prominently on the container.
Problem solved.
The reason they riot in Boston is they know that they can. After all the mayor has already cited liberal drinking laws as the culprit, so you see it had nothing to do with with the rioters total disregard for he law` now that you`ve enlightened us Mayor Menino get ready for the next round of riots.
Mayor Menino is right – it’s all the liquor laws fault; that the city only stationed five cops in the area of the riots had nothing to do with it.
