…in speaking style and general decorum, Chris Matthews reminds me of the Cookie Monster. He seems ready not only to chew up the scenery, but to start gnawing on his guests.

This needs to happen. Is there anyone who wouldn’t pay, say, $50 to see Matthews, out of the blue, lean over and start gnawing on Howard Fineman’s ear?

I also heard someone say the other night that Joe Lieberman reminds them of Fozzie Bear.

    Matthews is so annoying I can’t listen to him. He gives me headaches.

    Dean = Animal (yeaaaah!)
    Lieberman = Beaker (meemeeemeeee)
    Sharpton = Gonzo (and now, for my next trick…)
    Kucinich = Kermit (it’s not easy, being green)
    Kerry = Sam, the bald eagle (more in appearance than anything else)

    If only these guys were as entertaining as the real muppets…

    The only useful thing I got from Matthews last night was that Tim Russert is getting an exclusive on Bush’s first Sunday talk show appearance this weekend. Chris even managed to deliver the news without drooling.

    Darryl Hammond’s impersonation of Matthews on SNL is brilliant, especially the episode that has Tracey Morgan as Harry Bellafonte: “The poodle is the black man of the dog world!” Classic.

    Couldn’t agree with you more, Joe . . . Darryl as Chris is dead-on. The other classic line from that was:

    “Pokemon is a slave trader. Pikachu is a slave master.”
