Where’s the Bun?

Wednesday, January 14th, 2004

From the Chicago Tribune: Burger King and other fast food resturants are developing Akins-friendly meals. You’ve probably seen the Subway commercials for their low carb wrap. The Burger King meal is a hamburger on a plate, hold the ketchup and mayo.

Can’t wait for the no carb pizza from Pizza Hut.

Jimmy John’s sandwich shops allow you to order any of their sandwiches wrapped in a giant lettuce leaf rather than on bread. I can’t imagine it would be much fun to eat.

In most restaurants you can ask for lettuce to wrap instead of a bun. It’s actually not too messy – no messier than a taco, anyway.

In N Out burgers here in SoCal has offered the “protein-style” burger for years. It’s on the not-so-secret “secret” menu that offers other stuff like animal-style and the gut-bomb 4-by-4 (4 patties, 4 slices of cheese).

Funny that with all of the people on Atkins, the average American just keeps getting fatter and fatter.

dieters should be aware that if they like burgers so much that they are looking for an Atkins friendly way of eating them, then Atkins probably isn’t going to help.
try eating less.and get your fat ass out of the car.
