The Candid Saddam

An Agitator reader in the Air Force sent these photos, which he describes as snapped and sent “from our boys in the field.” They look pretty authentic to me, though I can’t vouch for that, or for whether or not they’ve appeared elsewhere first. Whatever the case, they’re fascinating, especially in that they give a casual glimpse of the men who captured Saddam. It’s history told through trophy-souvenier photos. I particularly like the last one, where we get to see Saddam sitting in what could be any American living room, complete with a bottle of “Formula 409″ in the background.

I used the same photo caps the photographer used — which also tell us some things about him.

    Stirring images . . . I do, however, have one concern. Why are the faces of the soldiers involved not “blotted out” for security purposes? I have seen these images since Friday or so and yours is the only one who is showing full on faces. Doesn’t this represent a potential danger to the soldiers in the photos?

    Look, if I got to plant the Soviet Flag on the Reichstag, or Be There for the Hussein bust, or Put a Cap in Kim Il Jong’s Ass, I wouldn’t mind if everybody knew about me.

    Blotting out one’s face at times like this is a totally wussy thing to do. I’m willing to call U.S. troops in Iraq many things (irresponsible, stupid, treacherous, lying) but wussy isn’t one of them.

    I think that going to war with iraq was wrong and necessary at the same time. Wrong because president bush lied about certain things that supposedly was in and happend in iraq. involving terrorist and saddam hussein in factual occasions. its true that is al-qaeda confronted iraqi militants and wanted money for weapons and all that shit. it could happen. saddam in 5 to 15 years from now, could be the most catastrophic threat to american history. giving him the benefit of the doubt that he wouldn’t just spend his countrys money into shit holes. but whatever… saddams captured…lets treat north korea some of our “secret toys”…kill all the mother fuckers….hahahahaha.. – kidding -

    Well iam really sorry to say this but are fucking ignorant or what ? i can’t say that of all americans cos my wife is american but the majority are.
    Well Guys, the guys did not care if he got cought or no. he was hiding in bloody Farm where everybody knew about it. The guy already won, He won, when he sent all his WMD to other countries, he won when Americans got into war and spend 4 Billion $ form ur taxes guys and than to get what? some Oil that UN is not gonna gives you. the guy already won when u are loosing lots fo your bother, sister. Saddam won when Bush have the Igonorance of going itno war.
    do you know that statistic show that if you guys continue to loose Soldiers the same as you are doing now, you are going to have a lots worst than Vietnam. Be careful guys. you should look more into your gevernment.

    Thats a shame, sush great soldiers are duying for nearly nothing.

    One thing, if uguys read more history you will know that iraqi are warriors since the start of times, and they are not going to let you in. Suicide bomber are just going to be more and more.
