We were allies with Stalin too when it was in our interest to defeat a greater evil. No doubt when we were supporting Saddam Iran was the greater evil.

I think a more appropriate title might be “Dr. Frankenstein recaptures his creation”. Check the dates on Saddam’s litany of horrors – many were committed while he was receiving the eager support of the U.S.. Instead of patting ourselves on the back for it, we should be questioning whether or not we’re supporting an equally bad guy somewhere else. I realize that reminders of U.S. support for Saddam aren’t fashionable, but reality has an annoying habit of refusing to go away.
