I’m Movin’ On

Tuesday, November 25th, 2003

So I have great news. I’ve been offered and have accepted a job as a policy analyst here at Cato. I’ll be working on many of the issues you read about here on a daily basis — civil liberrties and the nanny culture. So my turf includes everything from the drug war, to tobacco and alcohol restrictions, to the obesity epidemic, GMOs, all the way down to minor stuff like seat belt and helmet laws.

I’m very, very excited about the offer, and can’t wait to get started.

In the meantime, however, I need to find a smart, well-read, well-written libertarian to fill my position. And since this site is read regularly by lots of people who fit that description, I figure it’s as good a place to advertise as any.

Here’s the job description:

The Cato Institute seeks an experienced individual to manage content, development and marketing of its award winning website. This position offers the opportunity to shape and articulate the libertarian vision on the leading think tank website in the world. Specific responsibilities include: update Cato’s website with news headlines, pending legislation and developments in Washington; write summaries of Cato books, studies and events; plan and implement special online events, partnerships and symposiums; distribute Cato content to other online outlets; find creative ways to drive traffic to the Cato website; and manage the overall design of the site. The ideal candidate will have excellent writing skills, be able to manage multiple projects, be well-read on current events and issues, and believe in the principles of free markets and limited government. Experience in web marketing, public policy, site design/management skills desired.

Or, check here.

UPDATE: Just to clear up any confusion, you can still find me on this site. TheAgitator.com isn’t going anywhere. In fact, I’m not really going anywhere, save for a move to a different office.

I assume when you say “this site” you mean the one for Cato, not The Agitator. Or do you mean The Agitator when referring to “this site” since you are posting on The Agitator?

Kickass! Does the new job come with a cute intern or secretary? Or at least a monkey butler?

congratulations. i’m well read and fairly articulate, but web composition is not my strong suit. on second thought, there’s no smoking in DC anymore; so forget it.

Congratulations, but an entire institute devoted to the study of the Houston Rockets’ crappy back-up center? I’m not so sure…

As a policy analayst what would you say there are any areas of life wich are not legitimately matters of public policy? What would those areas be?
