Josh - My shock over the Lips song was that it was being played on the radio. I haven't heard them on the radio since circa 1994, before everything became completely Clear-Channeled and subcategorized to appeal to particular demographics that market research says is likely to pull in the most advertising revenue.

Richard White -
I don't know if you're cool or not, but at least you listen to Spoon and Trail of Dead. Of course, maybe you're just an Austinite.

Never claimed to be cool.

So I take it the shock is that the songs are good?

No no, don't answer. I just like asking questions.

Radley's not cool, he likes radio music.

And neither's Josh, because that song was used in a VH1 advertisement.

Why don't you guys listen to some REAL music, in the UNDERGROUND. Stop listening to your stupid sellouts!

WOXY in Cincinnati (which I listen to online) has been playing "Hey, Julie" for a few months, I think. I've been hearing "Stacy's Mom" for a few months on local stations. In combination with WOXY, I'm thoroughly sick of that song...

Radley -

I had a moment like your above-mentioned #2 earlier this week with the Flaming Lips's "Do You Realize?" - I rarely listen to the radio, outside of All Things Considered, so I was quite shocked myself.

Which two are you talking about? I can find lots of people on that list who could stand a little shutting up (Bill O'Reilly, Michael Moore, Al Franken, etc.).
