Powers of Ten
Wednesday, October 29th, 2003Stuff like this blows my mind every time. It reminds me of the opening scene from the movie “Contact”. Whenever I feel crappy about the petty things that go wrong in my life, somehow I’m able to get perspective by thinking about how small we really are.
Chuang-Tzu, speaking a few thousand years ago:
“There is nothing under the canopy of heaven greater than the tip of an Autumn spikelet. A vast mountain is a small thing.”
Or even more apt:
“With the small, to strive to exhaust the great necessarily lands him in confusion, and he does not obtain his object. How then should one be able to say that the tip of a hair is the ne plus ultra of smallness, or that the universe is the ne plus ultra of greatness?”

I must confess that I find this comment rather bewildering coming from you Mr. Sabotta.
But perhaps I fail to grasp what you are trying to say?
Maybe he forgot to use the [/joke] tags for you.
Or perhaps Humor is in the Perception (Eye) of the Observer (Beholder)?
I suggest you put those joke tags around all of my posts — even if I forget to do so myself.
