   I was about to complain about you not writing about this until I scrolled down.

   Why is it “awful” when someone kills themselves? Who am I to judge whether someone else’s life is worth living?

   Mark,

   Please do not be insensitive. The man died of a self-inflicted stab wound. This isn’t some ‘take a handful of pills, drift off to sleep’ suicide; hell, it’s not even a ‘put the double-barrel to the head and pull the triggers with your toes’ quick and painless suicide. The man stabbed himself in the chest and bled to death. I think that Elliot Smith did the deciding for you that his life was not worth living. THAT is the awful part, for me at least. Your opinion is irrelevant.

   This a poem for Elliott Smith I arranged using his own words, lyrics, song titles, etc. I didn’t know him but he touched me and I feel a tremendous loss. I wanted to do something. Thanks for everything, Elliott.

   Elliot Smith was a legend, he changed my life as he appears to have done to so many others, yet i, and they, never even met him.
   His songs break my heart, but i can’t stop listening.
   I, and many others, love you Elliot Smith. I wish you could have known how much you meant to so many people. maybe you would have changed your mind.
