   radley,

   I live hear in Qatar.
   We are about 50 miles from the UAE (Dubai)
   I am not a GREAT pool player but alot of the guys I work with (other Americans)are.
   Often, they go to some of the local hotels and compete with alot of these Arabs from some of these middle east countries in the region and these Arabs smoke the Americans like a cheap King Edward!
   You would be suprised at the skill the arabs have at alot of other competitve sports. such as, basketball, rugby, and soccer. They are very underrated.
   However one must understand that there are 2 types of Arabs: Gulf Arabs and middle East Arabs. The middle East Arabs Are from Syria, Palestine,Lebenon, and Jordan. They are acctually very cool and westernized. They drink and I am freind with a great many of them. They, believe it or not, really like Americans. The Gulf Arabs, however, such as Saudies,Qataries,Yemenies are the most Arregant rude and hatefull I have ever met even though they are filthy rich!! with oil and Natural gas money. they are very intolerant of anyone who is not “Muslim”. and they dont do shit ALL DAY. They dont work, and they dont play.
   The other Arabs Are more down to earth.
   Probably because they come from poor countries or countries where there has been a lot of stuggle.

   Any one have any other thoughts on the subject?
