Monday, September 8th, 2003Okay, so maybe it’s not so cool to make fun of an old man who, after prostate surgery, needs the services of a “penis pump,” whatever that is.
But when said old man happens to be Mel Sembler, the current U.S. ambassador to Italy, and a man who made millions of dollars from abusive drug rehab centers while exploiting the personal problems of thousands of troubled teenagers?
Well, yes, I’m going to smirk a little. And, dammit, I’m not going to feel guilty about it.

A ‘penis pump’ in this context is something you might think of as “Air Johnson”.
It’s for people who can’t get a stiffy; they have an inflatable bladder implanted in the weenie. The pump part goes in the scrotum, I think.
I didn’t know that. In fact, Melvin’s making a big deal out of Richard having spread this personal information all over the world. But I never knew about the cancer before Englander told us all. I really though someone had given a penis enlarger to him as a joke and he’d thrown it out. I’m not sure how many people even believed that it was Melvin’s pump before he affirmed ownership with this lawsuit.
So I don’t believe that the lawsuit is really about an invasion of privacy or emotional duress. I think it’s a way to slapp Richard into silence. Just look at some of the verbage going back and forth in the papers. Richard talks about well known child abuse and documentable ties to Mel Sembler while Sembler throws around ad hominem attacks and then whines about his tender feelings.
Read this and tell me if his former clients might have a claim regarding his and Betty’s continual public bragging about what they’ve done to us.

It was, after all, in the trash. Something that potentially embarrassing might have been disposed of in a more discreet manner than putting it in with the coffee grounds and throwing it on the curb.

BTW, when I saw the word ‘agitator’ in the headline, I thought to myself, “Omigod, Radley’s gone off the deep end with his Sembler vendetta!” Now THAT’S brand consciousness!!

I remember reading about a Supreme Court case under the Reagan Administration (I can’t remember the particulars here; any legal scholars in the house?) in which the court ruled that, because a California man had thrown out his drug paraphernalia with the rest of his garbage, he had no protection against it being seized as evidence against him. Basically, the court said that once you toss it out it isn’t your property anymore. Seems to me that Bradbury doesn’t have any property belonging to the Semblers, and thus can’t return anything belonging to them.
Has this been since overturned? I’m guessing not, because it’s affiliated with the Drug War, a sancrosanct government intrusion scheme if ever there was one.
I was in straight in 81 and have never really looked back but that place was pure shit. I think all the principals should be prosecuted criminally and sued civilly. Has anyone thought of a class action suit?
I have personaly met Rich, because we live close to each-other and I frequently spend time with him at the pool, and he has shared stories with me that I find to be true, and I believe every word that he has to say.
