Worst Coach Ever
Sunday, April 27th, 2003Watching the Pacers-Celtics game. Wathcing the Pacers piss away the season. Watching Boston go on a 37-10 run. 37-10. Thirty-seven to ten. Watching Coach Isiah Thomas leave the same five players in the game for the entire 37-10 run. Didn’t sub once.
Did he consider that maybe, just maybe, these guys weren’t doing the job? A sixteen point lead morphs into an eleven point deficit, and you don’t take one guy out of the game? Even if the five on the floor are the most talented on the team (and they weren’t), don’t you think that perhaps an entire quarter of receiving an ass-kicking might make them tired? Might take a toll on their confidence?
Isiah Thomas. Fire him. Fire him. Fire him.
Back to watch the fourth quarter. And probably get angrier.

You probably lost most of the poli-blog crowd with this one, but you are absolutely right. I’ve never seen a talented team achieve so little because of one guy. First, Isaiah runs the CBA into the ground (and bails) and now he’s destroying the Pacers.
Oh please, talented team. Every team in the East is the same garbage, a bunch of guys that get thrown on the court together and play a team sport as individuals.
If a guy like Ron Artest in an integral part of your team you can pretty much wave goodbye to any success. How can you even root for a team that has a scumbag like that on the team.
Which leads me to what I always say about the NBA, it is a gutter sport. There is no team work (other than a few teams which end up winning all the time, what a shock) and it has become a completely individual sport. One dominated by slam dunks, which require no talent whatsoever, other than having big parents that created a big kid.
For the most part the NBA is nothing but a league dominated by people lucky enough to be born tall and athletic, there is very little skill or brain left in the game. If I want to watch real basketball I watch the college guys play, preferably teams which have a few seniors who opted not to go to the NBA after two years.
Hehehe. Everything Isaiah touches turns to shit: he sucked as a broadcaster, he ran the CBA into the ground, and the Pacers are massively underachieving.
Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy:
“Larry Bird would be just another average player if he were black.”
You forgot about his brilliant time as GM of Toronto. The man is an idiot
