The Barenaked Ladies have a blog. And their first entry? All about A Mighty Wind!

My favorite BNL song is easily “Straw Hat and Old Dirty Hank.”

First, it’s just a great tune. Second, I like it because of its absurd and more than a little disturbing premise: It’s all about a Canadian wheat farmer who develops an obsession for, and soon begins stalking, Canadian folkstress Anne Murray. It ends with these lyrics:

I know your address, I ring the bell
I bring you flowers and a .22 with shells

I always wonder how the brainstorming session went for that song.

“Hey, guys! I’ve got an idea….”
