“Ba-Ba-Booey, You Idiot.”
Thursday, March 20th, 2003I have CBS on the television in the background.
I don’t know how he did it, but a Howard Stern minion just managed to insert himself into a transmission between Dan Rather and a CBS correspondent at the Iraq-Kuwait border. Live. On the air.
He delivered the quote in the headline of this post.
I think it is funny when they do that. I get very annoyed with all the hairsprayed knuckleheads freaking out on air and putting on gas masks and being melodramatic.
Why do I find it funny? The reporter is just as much of an “air-pig” as the person calling. They just want to be on air and will do anything to be there.

I missed that, but at one point when I was flipping around, Rather asked a correspondent in Iraq the following:
“Where are you, what can you see, and why should we care?”
I want to know what sort of CGI wizardry CBS is using to cover up the stars, tweeting birds, and pink elephants swirling around Rather’s head at all times.

well, it was janks and he explained how he did it to Howard this morning. the same way he always does. calls the network on a publicly available number, claims to be someone he isn’t and says “Put me on”. He added air raid sirens and bomb noises as background for his call this time, nut usually that’s not even necessary.
Even better is that the info he supplied in his call to set up his moment on the air was reported both by Rather and on a CBS screen scroll for the next hour, until Janks himself called CBS back and told them they should retract the bogus info, namely that the 3rd infantry had just been deployed into souther iraq.
Janks felt bad that they were going with the story, even though their source had proceeded to yell “Baba Booey, you idiot” at Rather as soon as he made it to the air.
Janks said a brit accented producer yelled at him for two minutes when he called back with his helpful advice to retract the scam info.
so beautiful.
Seriously, I’m compiling a dictionary of slang/neologisms, and I’d like to know just what Ba Ba Booey means (aside from being Howard Stern’s producer) or how it’s supposed to be used. Thanks for any help here — DH
