   I feel a little less sympathetic here than in most cases. Reading what a drunk Robles said in terms of crashing into the police cars and then reversing I would tend feel that this girl did run in to the police vehicles.

   Yes, if drugs were legal this would not have happened, but lumping it in with the other murders by our government does not seem fair. If she had just pulled over nothing would have happened. I think I also draw the line somewhere between smoking some dope and dealing coke when it comes to our absurd US drug policy.

   So her dad is trafficking coke out of her house (nice dad), she is a 14 year old driving a drunk guy, she rams into police cars. My sympathy level is down on this one, sorry Radley.

   I live here in san antonio, and listen to the talk shows (all of which seem to side with the DEA for the same reason as Peter). The Hispanic community is fairly and understandibly upset. They are not demanding that the officers be punished, just that the case be opened to the public and investigated. This is not to much to ask and the DEA’s refusal looks a lot like a cover up. All of this though, is moot, the real case is that once again the police have lost sight of their responsibilities. The constitution is very clear about the roll of the judicial dept. PROTECT THE INNOCENT! This can be accomplished through direct protection of the people, and indirectly through prosecution of the guilty. both are necessary. What ever their action, the justice system at all levels must make an annalysis of the situation, and ask themselves these two questions 1) will our action put innocent people in danger of losing life, liberty or property? 2) will our inaction put innocent people in danger of losing life, liberty or property. In the case of this “raid” they failed to answer these questions. There inaction (at this immediate time) would not have put any innocent people at risk, where their action clearly cost the life of and innocent girl. A life they were responsible for protecting. The DEA’s existance is in question to begin with (along with the BATF), their actions here will hopefully alert people as to there illegitimacy.

   My initial reaction was the same, but these were unmarked cars, and the agents may not have announced who they were. If you were driving and two unmarked cars sandwiched you in, what would you do? I may not ram them with my car, but I also would not just pull over and be submissive.

   Also, why did they need to fire shots so quickly? It may not be as egregious as earlier cases, but it was a pretty big mistake and was wrong.
