For the record: Yes, I was kidding. While it is true, and sad, that the pop Westernization of diets in some countries have reduced historically long lifespans (such as Okinawa), suffice it to say that I found the whole "I didn't know fast food would make me fat" lawsuit hysterically funny. :)

That is funny! Although I am not sure it qualifies you as a "Racist". The ACLU may think so though.

My funniest/most embarrassing/racist McDonald's story. I was attending meetings for my employer and was in a dark suit with a companion in a dark suit and we drove our dark colored sedan to the drive-through. The man on the intercom didn't speak english...at all. He just knew "can I help you" and how to read the total. I was trying to order something out of the ordinary, but couldn't get the message across. I got frustrated and ordered a combo meal instead. When I pulled to the window, I jokingly said, "hi, I'm from the INS and I need to see your papers." I thought he wouldn't understand and would thank me and tell me to have a nice day. Well, I guess he understood because there was a lot of yelling and screaming and about 90% of the staff ran out the back door. There were two old ladies and a manager left to handle the entire lunch crowd. Needless to say, I was quite embarrassed by my own blatant racism and felt very badly for frightening so many people who were just trying to make a living. But it was still amusing to see the look on the managers face when his entire staff ran out and half the customers, thinking fire or bomb or something, took off as well. I ended up driving away with no food...even though I paid.

Leaper, as far as increased fat and sugar intake, last time I checked, I was in control of what I put into my body. And if I decide to drink Coke and eat supersized fries, I don't believe I have any right to blame anyone other than myself if I develop diabetes or a fat ass. The finger pointing our society loves so much is now at the laughable point. Wait, it always was.

Considering how unhealthy fast food and soda generally are, Coke and McDonalds had better be doing some good stuff in the local communities to counteract the increased fat and sugar intake. :)

The greatest thing about McDonald's is that it is the American dream.

Kroc was selling blenders when he came across the original McDonald brothers restaurant, he soon opened one of his own in Des Plaines, IL. Obviously a few more have opened since then.

McD's offers opportunity, something like 1 in 10 people start their employed life with McD's, I'm sure it's much higher in disadvantaged neighborhoods. They offer assistance and financing to people who want to start a franchise, help them pick location, even offer classes on how to run the business. How many companies can say they actually CREATE millionaires.

Actually, I must admit that I'm not exactly unbiased here. My mom's cousin worked for McDonald's. He started in the mail room, and did pretty well with the company... his name is Mike Quinlan.
