I’m a Whore!

Thursday, January 16th, 2003

I guess that’s the implication once you’re mentioned on Media Whores Online. Here’s the full post. Here’s the relevant excerpt:

Pissant Radley Balko, who I’d wager long odds has never seen one of his own squad engulfed in flames, mocks Rangel’s draft plan. Yet another patriot who’s too good to actually join up himself.

Hmm. Whadd’ya suppose MWO meant by “patriot?”

Do I believe in the American idea, as set out by the founding fathers? Yer’ damn skippy, I do.

Do I subscribe to jingoistic, Lee Greenwood-ish coerced flag-worshipping? No, not really.

But I’m guessing MWO’s use of “patriot” was more a facetious reference to neoconservative “American Greatness” adherents, the kinds of folks who believe American should invade and conquer all the world’s heathens, and refuse to leave until they’re all collecting baseball cards, eating apple pie, and loving the baby Jesus. They just assumed that because I mocked Charlie Rangel’s stupid idea to reinstitute slavery in an effort to make sure more white people die on the battlefield, I must also be Kipling-esque imperialist — a cowardly pax-Americanist too chickenshit to do the fighting myself.

Well, I hate to disappoint MWO and its off-the-rack label-makers, but you got the wrong guy, dipshits. I’m against the war with Iraq. And, in fact, I’m against war, period — something you’d think avowed leftists like MWO would appreciate.

Am I too good to join the military? No. Most of the guys doing the fighting — especially the first guys in — are likely a helluva’ lot smarter than I am. I didn’t join because the army’s not my bag. And I’m not joining now because I don’t feel like dying in a stupid grudge-war that I find unjustified.

I wonder how many at MWO have service records?

As for “pissant,” well, I guess that’s fairly subjective.

My solution to all war…..The U.S. begins selling to every country on the planet nuclear weapons. Ultimate goal being that every country will have nuclear capablility to threaten their neighbors….Results, a better U.S. economy….and either a completetly peaceful world where no one enters a war with anyone else for fear of nuclear annilihation…or complete world destruction
Either way Pandora’s box was opened a long time ago………

I might agree with the “pissant” part too. No but seriously, what’s with all these people who are saying, “well let’s see you go fight if you’re gonna talk about it”. Everybody discusses issues, but not everyone makes the *choice* to take action. You can’t fight every single battle. I would say more than most, you’re fighting for what you think is right through articles written, through theagitator. That’s disgusting, if they have such big mouths, why aren’t they in the middle East. If it’s so much more important to them and not us, why don’t they quit talking and start doing.

I fail to see the connection between Radley, ants, and piss…. They all seem relatively disconnected unless you want to make some odd reference to the idea that at some point in time Radley probably pissed on a few ants (I mean, who hasn’t??)

I believe it is still better to be a pissant than antpiss.

You’re not too good to join the military; you’re too old.

Spoofs and pissants aside: A spot census of any infantry unit I’ve served in over the last 18+ years would find about 20-30% minorities, the majority of which occupy some type of leadership position. If we are to look at service and support jobs in the military; we find an almost inverse ratio, with the majority of non-combat related jobs being held by minorities. So, point is: anti-war arguements which uses “people of color as cannon fodder” rhetoric, is misinformed: the majority of the soldiers at the tip of the spear are white……………but folks like Ragel will probably say that’s discrimination too!
