Whitlock, a very large man by anyone’s standards (325 pounds), is supposedly participating in the Humana River Crown Plaza Marathon on November 2nd. He’s gone from having a gung-ho, Prefontaine-like attitude about the marathon to a sniveling victim of other people’s generosity. If it wasn’t so sad it would be funny. And the reason that a coach’s skin color matters is…..? It’s interesting to note that in Whitlock’s rant he never once mentions what difference skin color makes. Maybe the reason (though I seriously doubt it) that Sapp and the others do not apply pressure to their alma maters is they get that race shouldn’t matter.
Whitlock wrote an outstanding piece on the subject, however he missed one important point. Regardless of who applies the pressure to the front offices of the league, once they start appointing coaches on the basis of race, how much longer till white people start demanding more representation on the field instead of the sidelines? Affirmative action, just like Cochran, must go.
Hey Jason
I just watched a espn classic special on Tiger. This being the week for golf because of him I will tell you in your playing days of football all you thought about was football or girls. The game of golf is not for everyone,it has strick rules patients, time and money. When I started I was a caddy in the 70’s it was hard work and alot of patients at 10 to 17 years old,the perk I got was I played golf on monday for free at one of the best golf courses in town thier was no race because I didn’t know what race was all I cared about was the game of golf.Back then all my friends didn’t understand why I liked the game but now they do now.It was a pussy sport then but the ripping I took didn’t matter because I was very good at it and it keeped me away from drugs that is what kids need to stay out of trouble. All the coutryclub kids I was around did not Know how lucky they were they were the ones that ended up on drugs because it was given to them thier fathers they wanted to be around I spent 4 to 5 hours with them on the weekends and they tought me alot about the game, life and how adult life would be in the future.Tiger is not the first kid that thought he could win the open or masters,I new dozens of kids but we couldn’t afford it because are parents didn’t have the money.I would like to say I won the masters and any other tournament but my parent didn’t have the money thats the way life is. My Dad plays golf with me a couple times a year and that the highlight of my life, I’ve shot a 66 and a 67 with him and he is always so proud, he was a great football, basketball and baseball player
but when I decided to play golf he was proud because I stayed with it money or not I earned it.Lets bring back the caddy in golf its not the same without them.
