JENIN UPDATE

Palestinian officials admitted yesterday that the death toll from the infamous “Jenin massacre” stands at 56 — just 7 of them civilians. Fox News reported yesterday afternoon that the Palestinians are now considering a rather significant shift in strategy. They’re dropping the “massacre” spin altogether, and instead are pitching the idea that the brave Jenin refugees faced down the mighty Israeli military, and escaped with only minimal casualties. That’s “massacre” to minimal casualties in less than a week. “Over 3,000″ dead to “56 dead.”

I’ve posted here that I doubted the “massacre” spin all along. But I did suspect that the Israelis perhaps used more force than was necessary. That doesn’t appear to be the case anymore. So yes, I was probably wrong. I do maintain, however, that Sharon could’ve avoided the massacre talk altogether if he’d simply allowed the media into the West Bank to document the incursions.
