Since I endorsed a book yesterday that paints a pretty grim view of race in the Hoosier state, I owe it to my birthplace to point out this sports trivia tidbit: Indiana currently has more high-profile black coaches than any state in the country. Mike Davis — IU basketball; Isiah Thomas — Pacers basketball; Tyrone Willingham — Notre Dame football; and Tony Dungy — Colts football.
